Steve's Authentic Key Lime Pies
This was a complete random find - I was biking around Red Hook and had paused by the side of the road to look at my map. I look up to see a sign dangling in the wind and almost shrugged it off as a remnant of the past - until I saw a newer lime green 'key lime pies' sign further down the road. I followed the signs... and lo and behold:

Charles Scribner's Sons Building, from 5th between 47/48th Streets
I've been going on random walks in the city lately (now that the weather have warmed up!), and I've noticed my interest in hand-painted, old, or quirky signage. The Charles Scribner's Sons used to be a publisher in the States and printed a large number of religious and reference titles; it underwent a few change-of-hands in the late 1970's and early 80's, and is now owned by Simon & Schuster. Awesome restroom sign @Boyd Thai
I took this photo before they expanded into place next door and did a complete renovation, so I don't know if it's there anymore. This is one of my favorite Thai restaurants in the city; they make yummmmmy soft-shell crab there. Plus, they have great sangria happy hour deals!
