Chinatown, late afternoon, sudden rain.
Somehow the rain brought out the gold of the late afternoon sun that I hardly see anymore in the usually grey New York. Everywhere I looked was beautiful for those few minutes while the rain lasted.

That's my friend HQ on the right shielding me from the rain. I owe these pictures to her because I was staring in 360-degree awe at the gold and hadn't even thought of taking pictures until she said, "Damn, I wish I had a camera with me." That snapped me into action pretty quickly.

The View at the New York Marriott Marquis
I was invited by an awesome friend to join his family's visit to New York. It was one of the best days I had in 2009. He has an incredibly warm family who folded me naturally into their conversation and made me feel included the moment I met them. When we dropped by the rotating rooftop restaurant for rest and drinks after walking around Manhattan all day, a glowering, aggressive rainstorm made war on our 48th floor windows for 10 minutes and left a beautiful dying sun that shone purple-pink-orange over the river.

Pre-storm? I love taking candids of strangers, though they probably don't like that I do.
